“It Starts To Get Creepy”: Jennifer Lawrence Continues Her “Awfulness Of Fame” Truth Tour In EW

Jennifer Lawrence Laments Fame

We’re obviously huge fans of Jennifer Lawrence‘s candor; it makes us feel connected to her as a human being, rather than as a 30-foot-tall beautiful movie robot. It’s that same honesty, however, that has slowly convinced us that being famous is a lot more horrible than most actors are letting on. “I’m different. It’s exciting for about five minutes — like walking through a restaurant and hearing people say your name to each other. After a while it starts to get creepy and scary and you feel cynical and now I do this thing where I’ve got this tunnel vision where I only see people that I recognize,” the Silver Linings Playbook star told Entertainment Weekly. “I always imagined I would stay the exact same and I would be just as happy. And I’m not.” Yikes! Of course, this is just the latest stop on JLaw’s The Awfulness Of Fame Truth Tour. We were also horrified to hear…

  • “Sadly, I cannot live in Los Angeles anymore. I don’t understand how actors can do it. You have no life here. You are followed everywhere. It’s not like that anywhere else in the world. I don’t want to stay in L.A. and start thinking that’s reality – because it’s very far from normal,” Jennifer told W Magazine.
  • “I never leave at night. I never go out. I’m a 9-5 job for the paparazzi. The only pictures they get of me is pumping my gas and walking to breakfast. People are still buying these? OK,”  she fretted to AZ Central.
  • “I was really upset the day that The Hunger Games came out. I was shaking all day wrapped in a blanket,” Jen told Vogue UK, later recalling a particularly bad piece of advice: “[I remember a friend saying,] ‘Dude, have you seen what they’ve done to Britney Spears?’”
  • “It gets overwhelming, where I’ll cry in my car, but not to the point where I don’t want to do what I’m doing,” she told the New York Times. That genuinely breaks our hearts!
  • “In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress, I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach,” Jennifer told Elle.  Scary for a different yet interconnected reason!
